a really good sandwich. i'm at work and i'm eating a late lunch... now and then i'll treat myself to a yummy (but pricey) sandwich from Cafe XO (see link under "dogeareds").
their chicken salad sandwich is really something: all-white meat with just enough mayo, purple onions, champagne (?) grapes... garnished with lettuce (the pretty greenleaf kind, not iceberg!), tomato (which i always remove--never been fond of raw tomatoes)... all on perfectly toasted bread (courtesy of their panini press), your choice (i love the multigrain). and if that wasn't enough, it comes with side salad of mixed greens in their own house dressing (with capers, banana peppers and mini gherkins!).
okay... sorry for the mini zagat review. i just love XO. they also have the best chai i've ever had. another great restaurant, next door, is Pomelo (see link). i've only been to the one in Noe Valley, but the five or six times i've been there, the food has always been consistently good. though i've only ever had brunch there, i've never been disappointed. and i never feel greasy after eating, like at other places.
anyway... just a short post to start off the week. i can already tell that this week is going to sprout wings and take off. i have so much going on with schoolwork and my parents and karen are coming in on thursday. plus, marisela's birthday is this week... eeeeeeeek! wouldn't it be great if we could take hours from some days and add them onto others? i would totally love that.
alas, that is not how time works. anyway, i hope all is well with everyone.
