at work, the perfect place to post...
friday morning, i headed out toward mpak's hotel a little after noon-ish. despite having had an 8 am wake-up call from my sister, i still managed to fall back asleep and got up around 1030 to eat, shower and dress for the day.
my parents were in a medical convention, so i picked up karen at about a quarter to one and we went to a nearby In-N-Out Burger, another California institution, for lunch. we had a pretty good lunch of burgers and fries (hmm, this tour seems to be following a trail... of food...). as we were about to head into the city for the day, my dad calls us to come back to the hotel. turns out both he and my mom got their certificates of attendance and were going to skip the afternoon events in order to see more of the city.
on the way back to Chinatown (they couldn't get enough of the place), we stopped at one of my dad's relatives house in nearby Daly City to drop off medication and have a quick visit. in Chinatown, we stopped into a Chinese bakery to buy melon cakes (a favorite of my sister aileen) and have a quick snack. after that, we decided to pop into the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory for fun. it was a small operation, but worth the adventure down the side streets and alleyways of Chinatown. for the next couple of hours, we strolled in and out of shops buying more presents for family and bargains for ourselves. at the end of the night, we retreated back to mpak's hotel room (myself included) so we could all leave together for Napa on Saturday.
... and the tour continues...
